TICKET TO BRASIL is a Bossa Nova, Samba and Brazilian Jazz project created around a collective love for the celebration of rhythm and for the spirit of experimentation. The group was founded by classical and contemporary jazz guitarist, percussionist and  composer Pavel Jany, and it is currently based in Minneapolis / Saint Paul, Minnesota.

This international, unique and well established ensemble has performed  at a number of local and international events, including: The Winnipeg Jazz  Festival, Hot Summer Jazz Festival, MN Orchestra MusicFest, Sioux Falls Jazz Festival, Grand Marais Jazz Festival, Ordway World Stage Festival, Bloomington Latin Music Festival, MN Winter Jazz Festival, and more. The  group has opened for such renowned artists as Karrin Allyson and  Cibelle. Ticket To Brasil continues to be featured on local radio stations  Jazz 88 KBEM and KFAI Radio,  and on a number of independent radio stations around the world.

PAVEL JANY, a classical, jazz, and international music guitarist, composer and  percussionist, was first introduced to Brazilian music through the works of  Heitor Villa-Lobos and legendary guitarist Baden Powell, while he was studying classical guitar in Europe. He was further inspired by a number of  bossa nova artists, and by the masters of Brazilian fusion, such as Airto  Moreira, Flora Purim and Egberto Gismonti, to name a few. His interest in  samba and Afro-Brazilian music deepened during his three year stay in West  Africa. He also traveled extensively to South America, and while his long musical  journey encompasses many various styles, Brazilian music  remains his main domain.

Bossa nova was born as an amalgam of Afro-Brazilian samba, European classical music, and American jazz. Its moods range from folkloric and sultry popular sounds, to sophisticated and complex compositions. Ticket To Brasil reveals bossa nova as a distinct genre that is both elegant and timeless.
